Anthropic says only a small fraction of routine coding and debugging work should trigger Fable 5’s updated safeguards. Flagged requests are sent to Opus 4.8, with users notified when the fallback occurs.

This single session does not establish the average fallback rate for every user. But for this workload, the fallback was clearly not a minor part of the experience.
